Mrs. Tolnay

1st Grade Teacher

Hi, my name is Mrs. Lisa Tolnay. I have been teaching for over 30 years. I have taught 5th, 2nd, 3rd,  Kindergarten, 1st in my second school, Infant of Prague and now again beginning 2017-2018 school year here. I don’t have a favorite. I loved something about each and every grade. Teaching is such a rewarding occupation. The kids are always making me feel so blessed to be part of their lives. In addition to teaching I am a mother of two daughters who have made me so proud as well. My daughter Emily is a fashion designer in NYC and my daughter Rachel works in health care. I love spending time with my family whenever we get the chance. Much laughter and love is always part of my time with my family and students! I am in charge of running the Summer Sparklers program each summer. Each year it is a fun filled program and I look forward to it . The teachers and I work hard to make the program the success that it is every year. My free time is spent with my husband and family. Traveling and finding great deals is what I enjoy when I get the chance!

                                                                                              March 25th-March 29th

Thursday, March 28th- Peer Ministry–Dress Down day

**I hope your child told you about our field trip to Shea’s Performing Arts puppet show of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and two other Eric Carle stories.  It was so creative.  We all enjoyed it very much.

Spelling-    We will be working on new contractions this week

Math-  We have finished greater than, less than, and equal to in number sentences.  Please be sure to review this because we will be taking a test on these concepts this week.

Reading- Please read with your child each night.  One way you can read with your child is to go over work that was completed, graded and sent home.  If they didn’t do so well on it go over what they did wrong and show them what they could’ve done to get it right.  If it was done well you can always check it over with them to reinforce the great job they did.

Spelling-  When your child is writing sentences for homework please be sure to review capital letters when needed and punctuation.  If your child wants to be challenged see how many words they can use in each sentence.

This is the LAST WEEK to have your child earn a Personal Pan Pizza because the program ends this week.  If your child has not recieved at least one Personal Pan Pizza please have them read only 2 books by Friday and complete the book report forms that were sent home at the beginning of the month.  If youndon’t have them any more just email me and I will send you them again.

MondaysLibrary & Computers–Please remember books that were borrowed each week.

Tuesday, Wednesdays, & Thursdays–Gym/Fitness–Please be sure your child has sneakers to change in to.  They should also wear their St.Amelia gym shirts

Friday– Art— All children need an Art smock–Parents old tshirts work well.
