Dear Parents, Guardians and Students of Saint Amelia School:

I wanted to take some time to introduce myself to you. My name is Scott Kapperman and I was
recently appointed by the search committee as the new Principal of Saint Amelia School. I am honored that I
have been selected to lead the school. Throughout the interview process, it became apparent to me that this is
a caring and welcoming environment. I am so thankful to be a part of such a faith-based and close-knit
educational community.

I bring with me over a decade of Catholic School experience as a teacher, assistant principal and
principal. I earned two Bachelor’s degrees from SUNY Buffalo and two Master’s degrees from Canisius
College. In addition, I hold several New York State Certifications including School Building and School
District Leader Certifications. I reside in Depew with my wife, two children and several pets.

My educational philosophy is that every child can and will learn if given the proper tools. I also
believe that every child should be educated in proper social and emotional behavior and held responsible for
his or her actions within the school setting. Further, any disciplinary action should be carried out only if there
is an educational benefit or some sort of student learning attached to the consequence. I strive to treat each
child as if they were my own during the school day as I feel this allows me to make fair and rational decisions
for every child at the school. I plan to work with the faculty, staff and Father Sibby in order to develop a clear
and concise discipline policy for the school that will further reinforce and support our school mission to
“provide a quality Catholic education that instills in students the spirit of Jesus Christ in a positive, caring
environment, which allows students to achieve excellence and become responsible citizens in our
community.”

We will be focusing our attention on two areas for this school year. The first will be on handbook
policy enforcement and follow through of clearly outlined procedures. I kindly ask you to take the time to read
and understand the policies set forth in the Parent/Student Handbook and to review them with your child
before the start of the school year.

Our second area of focus will involve making a concerted effort at keeping the lines of communication
between school and home open. This partnership is very important to the success of your child at school.

I feel that my responsibility as the Principal is to ensure your child receives a quality education within
a safe, respectful and faith-filled environment. I know the staff at Saint Amelia School shares that same
focus. I am a firm believer in the home/school connection. I hope for and expect parents to serve as
educational partners with the school when educating the children. It is through the home and school
partnership that true and lasting teaching of values and respect is reinforced.

I invite parents to feel free to contact me at the school with any questions or concerns, or just to
introduce yourself. As stated earlier, working together only enhances your child’s educational experiences.
Know that my door is always open should you wish to meet with me.

As a matter of business, I ask that you please be understanding as we work together as a school
community while I adjust to my new assignment. I encourage you to work with the school as some changes
are made under the new administration knowing that these changes will always be made with the best interests
of your child in mind. I want to thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation as we adjust to my new
administrative role at Saint Amelia School.

I hope you enjoy the remaining days of summer vacation. Please stay safe and enjoy some valuable
time with your friends and family. I am looking forward to meeting your child (children) on the first day of
school.

Sincerely,
Mr. Scott C. Kapperman M.S.,Ed.
Principal
Saint Amelia School
