A Passion for the Arts
Musical and dramatic activities are highlighted at public productions, and student art is exhibited throughout the school. These are standard features during the school year. Dance and Drama Classes are also offered throughout the course of the school year. Beginning in fourth grade, our students have the opportunity to begin studying a musical instrument. Lessons are offered in percussion, woodwinds, strings and brass. Students showcase their talents at our spring musical held in the historic Riviera Theatre in North Tonawanda,as well as during our Student Success Night held at school in the Spring in conjunction with our annual Art Show.
We have an exciting new addition to our ever expanding music department with the addition of the “Pearson Realize” system. This new program takes on a whole new approach to musical education for grades one through five.
The course covers every aspect of musical learning from reading, writing, music history, cultural movements and dance.
Students in grades pre-k through 8 explore the art world in its entirety. Students learn art history, principles and how to use art as a medium to express and learn about ones self.
We use hands on problem solving, including mediums such as clay, ink, paper making, printing, painting, mixed media, embroidery, sculpture, etc.
Junior High students split the year with a semester of drama class and a semester of dance class. We proudly present two musical productions per year:
- Christmas Pageant
- Spring Musical – at the Historic Riviera Theatre
Partnered with Paul Effman music, we offer weekly instrumental lessons. Talents are showcased at our student success night.
