On June 29, 2017, Fr. Thomas Maloney will retire as pastor of St. Amelia Church and School. He has been our Pastor for twenty-two years and has been a priest for forty-nine years. Fr. Tom has been an inspiration to all of the students, parents, and faculty at St. Amelia School.
His energy and ideas helped to shape St. Amelia School into one of the finest Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Buffalo. We will forever be indebted to him for his commitment to our school.
In Honor of Fr. Tom our School celebrated “Fr. Tom Day” on Friday June 9, 2017. We celebrated with a prayer service where each grade then performed a special song or poem about him. The students sent him off with gifts that symbolize his time at St. Amelia School.
Our final gift to Fr. Tom was to induct him into St. Amelia School’s Hall Of Fame. A plaque will be mounted outside of the St. Sebastian gym to honor all that Fr. Tom has done for our school.
We ended the day with a school-wide parade around our campus with banners and flags in honor of him.
As Father Tom prepares to retire at the end of June, he will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Amelia Church, with a reception to follow from 12:00 noon – 3:00 p.m.
