This year, we end the season of Lent by serving in the love of Christ. We turn our thoughts to Easter and the joy and the hope that it represents. Without Easter, without the Resurrection, we would face a future of darkness rather than the promise of eternal life. Easter is truly a time of celebration! As we see signs of renewed life all around us in nature, we realize that we can share in that renewal. What a sign of God’s love we experience with the Resurrection! We are truly Easter people. Together, as parents and teachers, we face the future – with all of its challenges and all of its opportunities – with renewed faith and hope as we voice our joyful “Alleluia”.
As we celebrate Holy Week in our school, we are reminded of Christ’s resurrection marking a new beginning for us. It was a new covenant. Jesus took the sins of all people, of all times, upon himself, that through His death all might live, fully alive, free from the slavery of sin, protected from death. It was the start of something new for the people of God – a new understanding, a new vision, a love fulfilled. Despite the occasional snowfall and cool breeze, spring promises to deliver her gifts. The sunshine is staying awhile longer each day, extending the light and calling us to live more fully. The theme of Easter calls us to do the same. As the rains refresh the earth and bring new life, the Easter waters of Baptism bring new life and hope to each of us. Easter is the very basis for our religion. It is the reason for our faith, hope and love. We celebrate for fifty days in our churches and schools and we keep the knowledge and joy of Easter in our hearts each day of our lives.
The good news of Easter gives us meaning for life; indeed, it gifts us with everlasting life. It gives us purpose for our existence as people and in our vocation as Catholic educators. Through our church, our schools and our daily interactions, we spread the wonderful message of Christ. We have the opportunity to bring the joy of Easter to the children in our care, by retelling the stories of Jesus’ followers after the resurrection and singing Alleluia songs!
Let us rejoice in the signs of new life and thank God for His many gifts and celebrate God’s love for us! Be sure that everyone knows that this is a time of rejoicing – fifty days of it! We will continue to celebrate Easter for 50 days. As a school we will pass on a sense of purpose and celebration as we Walk in The Light of Christ.
Take time to enjoy celebrating with your family and renew and refresh yourself. The Paschal mystery is the joy of our salvation. For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.
For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, But that the world might be saved through him. John 3:16‐17 But whoever lives the truth comes to the light, So that his works may be clearly seen as done in God. John 3:21
We are an Easter people and Alleluia is our song! May your Easter Season be blessed with God’s grace and may He abide with you forever!
Sincerely yours in the Resurrection,
