Alumni Receive Scholarships to Princeton and Notre Dame

St. Amelia School is pleased to recognize two outstanding former graduates from the class of 2007 who have received scholarships to their respective colleges.   Jamie Hamp will be attending Princeton and is considering a major in medicine or business and Andrew McGloin will be attending Notre Dame studying civil engineering.

Jamie stated “attending St. Amelia School provided him with many opportunities for sports and other activities.” He participated in track, swimming, volleyball and basketball among many others. “Participating in these activities taught me valuable time management skills and helped me develop as a well rounded student.”   Jamie also mentioned that he loved the teachers and credits them with creating a great school atmosphere conducive to learning.

“St. Amelia School certainly helped me to get to Notre Dame. I had several teachers who were extremely passionate about the subjects they taught, as well as their students, and I could always find myself challenged academically, especially in junior high,” says Andrew.   St. Amelia School also laid the foundation for his understanding of faith, ethics and morality. Notre Dame is especially focused on pursuing the common good with inspiration from Catholic thought. St. Amelia is where I began to realize the importance of these ideas and to pursue a moral life.  His favorite memory was the 8th grade trip to Washington.
